At first glance, this train is indistinguishable from the dozens of intermodals that every day flow across BNSF's Southern Transcon line, the former Santa Fe across Illinois. However, this one, S-LPCTAC1-18E, is running on a bit of a detour route. It's the Chicago to Tacoma train, whose route would ordinarily take it over the Aurora Sub to LaCrosse and thence on BNSF's Northern Transcon. Oh, it'll go through LaCrosse, all right, later on tonight. Once the train reaches Galesburg, it'll take a right and head north toward Barstow, Savanna, LaCrosse and the Twin Cities.
