Empty Columbia coal train 812 heads south on DM&E's Marquette Subdivision. A six-axle Union Pacific GE leads, and another is on the rear in DPU mode. Between them is a trainload of empty COLX hoppers, interspersed with a handful of EDGX hoppers. Current routing of the loaded trains is UP to Clinton, Iowa; north, up the west shore of the Mississippi River on the DM&E (CP) to La Crescent, Minnesota; then east to Portage, Wisconsin, and south to Columbia on Soo Line (CP) trackage. This empty train is following the same route, in reverse.
