The Northtown-Kansas City manifest train passes the former junction (and crossing) of the Green Bay & Western at East Winona. The west end of the GB&W crossed the BN here; at bottom left the line headed across the Mississippi River to Winona, and at top right heads east toward Arcadia, Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay. GB&W successor Wisconsin Central Ltd. (under the control of parent Canadian National) filed to discontinue service on the line between Arcadia and East Winona, a distance of about 16.9 miles. Although CN will likely never reactivate the line, the Surface Transportation Board filing was for discontinuance, rather than abandonment.
