Twin City Rapid Transit Co. car 1239 backs toward Lake Minnetonka on Minnesota Streetcar Museum's Excelsior line. Car was built at the transit company's shops in 1907, and retired in 1953. After restoration, the car has run on the Excelsior line since 2004.
In the course of regular operation back in the day, Twin City cars ran on loops; there were no stub-ended lines and no turning facilities, so there was never need to reverse direction. The Excelsior line lacks loop tracks or turning facilities, so the trip to the pier must be accomplished (carefully) in reverse.
