We receive a hearty wave from the engineer of a southbound empty hopper train at Pioneer Road, milepost 114.73 on the UP Shoreline Subdivision. A few minutes ago and a couple miles back, this crew relieved the original crew, who had run out of time. Three units is a new thing for Sheboygan coal trains: UP recently (within the last week or so) increased train size from about 115 to 135 cars, and extra power is required. Engineers like the additional horsepower per ton.
