As a fan of your Trackside column, I am offering the following good natured advice that I give to all people engaged in setting up a cottage or second home: get rid of the lawn. I have a log cabin on a big piece of land and the cabin sits on a three acre site and every visit starts with mowing and lawn mower care. So take a hard look at that lawn and think of how you can naturalize as much of it as possible - then go enjoy your weekend. :)
