An eastbound BNSF intermodal cools its heels in downtown waiting for westbounds. The village recently erected a bright light on the other side of First Street, ostensibly to illuminate the statue of Trempealeau founder James Allen Reed. At least that's the official story. Many village residents believe the actual motivation is to light up passing trains so local railroad enthusiasts can photograph the BNSF action.
