Riverview's Capt. Bowe spent most of this year's navigation season stationed at Upper Mississippi Lock 2. Today, the Bowe is following Ashley Danielson, the last tow of the season, south down the river, assisting the tow at each lock. We're at Lock 6, it's 3:15 am, the wind is howling and it's bitterly cold - yes, an appropriate time to end navigation on the Upper Mississippi. Incidentally, Captain Anson Bowe himself has stepped out of the wheelhouse to say hello.
