BNSF's Northtown-Galesburg merchandise train H-NTWGAL9-16A crosses the Chippewa River eastbound. In the distance is Lake Pepin, the wide spot in the Mississippi River, said to have formed by the relatively faster-moving Chippewa, which deposited millions of tons of sediment here at the confluence over eons.
