Adirondack Scenic's train arrives Big Moose station, the northern terminus of this section of excursion service. About a third of a mile ahead is the summit of the former New York Central's Adirondack Division, an elevation of 2,044 feet - the highest point, in fact, on the contiguous New York Central system.
In a moment the train will stop, passengers will alight, and the power will run around the train for the return to Thendara and Utica.
